PAA Students Truly Can Do It All: Balancing the work of an artist and leader
I am a proud ASB and PAA member. I am very fortunate to be involved in various student leadership activities and performing arts opportunities, as well as many different classes and programs that West Covina High School offers. One very special opportunity is, of course, being a part of the school musical; a school run production brought together by theater, technical theater, vocal music, instrumental music, dance, and West Covina High School students! This year we are doing High School Musical On Stage and I have the honor of playing Taylor Mckessie! Creating the musical can be a very challenging and meticulous process, but I’ve learned so much from my fellow cast members, stage managers, and director. I know performing on stage after months of rehearsal will be exhilarating and memorable and I am very excited to perform as Taylor Mckessie in the upcoming show days!

However, balancing Performing Arts Academy classes, ASB priorities, school work, and the school musical is sometimes difficult to do. There are lots of different activities throughout the school year and although it is so much fun, it is also very time consuming and tiring. In order to manage everything, I have to be diligent and productive to make good use of my time. Thankfully, being a part of different activities in school has taught me to organize my time and allows me to meet all my priorities. I was taught to be responsible for my own time and that there is more I can accomplish with grit and determination. I carry these traits as an artist, leader, and student, which allows me to perform all of my passions. I have lots of supporting and understanding teachers and advisors that fully support my activeness in different areas and inspire me to achieve more than what I thought I was capable of.
I have many special roles and I do my very best to fulfill them and perform them to the best of my ability. I have worked hard in all of my roles and will continue to do so in my remaining years at West Covina High School. I am lucky to have so many experiences within the campus, and I know the work I put into each of my roles is worth it and will stay with me well beyond my high school years. I am so excited to showcase my recent role as Taylor Mckessie in the upcoming school production and excited to continue exceeding expectations for my other roles as well.
